Next Steps

We will be returning to Sri Lanka on 16 September 2006. We want to continue our support for the village.

With your help we can get more people back to work, sponsor orphans and continue to "feed" the school- children.

Hi Della,

Hope you, Don and the family are keeping well.

This is a little note to keep you informed of the progress of the activities of Neighbours in Christ Association.

Medical Clinic: The clinic continues to function well. The numbers are increasing each week. . So, depending on the doctors’ time/ availability we extend the hours and take in a few more patients.
Tsunami Houses: Six houses were constructed on the land which we purchased at a place called Panadura about 15 Kms. to the South of Ratmalana. The six houses were handed over on 18^th. March 2006 by the Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo.
Constructing/Renovating Homes: Whilst two small houses were constructed for deserving persons several homes were renovated with the addition on toilets etc. to make them more suitable for human habitation. We have “put on hold” any further “high cost” projects
Monthly Assistance to the Needy: We continue to help approximately 40 needy families on a monthly basis to assisting them in their day to day living, medical requirements and the educating of their children.

We have scheduled to hold an Annual General Meeting of the Association in August/September this year for which we will be preparing a detailed report of the work we have accomplished during the past 12 months. I will forward you a copy of same when it is ready.

Before I close I, on behalf of Fr. Mahendra and the rest of the committee, wish to recall your generosity towards the work of our Association and thank you for the encouragement and support given to us in carrying out our work to, even in a small way, alleviate the suffering of the less fortunate.

Hope you will visit us in the near future so that you can see the work we have accomplished with the generosity of people such as you and your friends.
